If you are more into classic rock, pop or acoustic rock styles -- and not the heavier types of rock -- check out the Beginning Rock Rhythm Guitar video and booklet.

An ideal all-around 'Rock Starter Pack' would be Metal Rhythm Guitar Volume 1 and Metal Lead Guitar Primer, plus the Beginning Rock Rhythm Guitar video and booklet.

If you are a beginner and want a jazz-based approach which is also heavy on learning to read music (staff), check out the Berkelee Series. You'll find more info on this series under the "Other Books & Tablature" menu tab.

If you are a beginner and want a general, easy guitar method that teaches music reading (staff, or standard notation) with a folk-style approach, you'll want to check out the Hal Leonard Basic Guitar Method. Check it out under the "Other Books & Tablature" menu tab.
